Tango Video Calls - Like FaceTime, But Works Over 3G Too!

FaceTime, Apple's recently established video calling medium, is great. It works like a charm on both iPhone 4 and iPod touch (4G) devices. Yet, sadly it only works over Wi-Fi.
We've told you about Fring, the popular IM client which allows users to video call over 3G. Unfortunately, the video quality when calling over 3G wasn't all that great, which left many iPhone 4 owners unhappy. However, they need not fret, because a new video calling application has just danced into the App Store.
It's called Tango Video Calls, but don't let the name put you off. This recently released app promises to offer users "free high end video calls over 3G and Wi-Fi." And, from the looks of it, Tango is definitely worth checking out.
Not only is the application free, but the quality of video calls made using Tango is actually pretty impressive. The guys over at Gizmodo have posted a hands-on video of the app in action, and besides a few connection issues, Tango seems to work pretty well.
Users are required to create a Tango profile in order to interact with the app. However, once this has been done, making calls using the application couldn't be easier. And, what's more, iPhone owners can call other smartphone fans using Tango, which is a nice feature.
It is worth noting that video calling over a 3G network will eat into your data allowance pretty severely; so approach Tango with some degree of caution.
Tango Video Calls is currently available in the App Store for free. So, if you're an iPhone 4 user, why not check it out? If you do, be sure to let us know how it works for you in the comments below!
