Hot Plates Gains A New Game Mode, Game Center, And Retina Display Support
November 19, 2010
Big Mouse Media's Hot Plates, formerly known as just Plates!, has been upgraded with a number of significant additional features, including Game Center integration, a new gameplay mode, and improved graphics.
Hot Plates v1.3 adds a new Fast option to the Classic gaemplay. As you would've guessed, the conveyor belts move a bit quicker, however, this option also includes "dynamite dogs."
The entirely new game mode, Kitchen Countdown, takes the classic gameplay of correctly applying sauces and turns it into a showdown-style scenario. Twelve plates are set before you in a 3x4 grid. Your mission is to apply the proper sauces as quickly as possible until the 60 second timer runs out. Once you've completed the dozen, a new set of plates will replace them.
Big Mouse Media's implementation of Game Center includes three leaderboards, one for each game mode, and 650 points spread across 13 total achievements.
In Classic mode, three conveyor belts carry plates of food on and off of your screen. As the plates go by, you must squirt one of four different sauces on top of the corresponding plates. Steak sauce goes onto the steaks, blueberry syrup on pancakes, ketchup on hot dogs and oil on salad. The four sauces are located in each corner of the screen and are color coded
Dynamite Dogs mode utilizes the same three conveyor belt system from Classic, in this case, it's just hot dogs that you'll be dealing with. Placed amongst the regular hot dogs in buns will be sticks of dynamite instead. Only apply the ketchup to the hot dogs, attempting to apply it to a stick of dynamite will end in a messy disaster.
