Project: Virgin's iPad-Only Digital Magazine Hits The App Store

Project: Virgin's iPad-Only Digital Magazine Hits The App Store

November 30, 2010
Richard Branson's iPad-only magazine, Project, is now available in the App Store. The application itself is free to download, however separate issues (including the first issue) do cost $2.99 each. We first heard about the Project last week, when news of a scheduled Virgin press event hit the web. Following this, there was much speculation as to whether Richard Branson would choose to release a digital magazine. Questions were raised since Apple and News Corp. have joined forces to bring tablet owners the Daily, another digital magazine, which has not yet been released. Regardless, Virgin rolled out the Project today, and the iPad-only application is currently available in the App Store. The publication itself promises to deliver a "revolutionary multimedia magazine," one that is more interactive than its peers. This aspect of the Project is immediately apparent; the magazine comes complete with an interactive front cover, which TechCrunch likens to the Daily Prophet, in Harry Potter. A video of the Project's cover is available to view over at Vimeo, so be sure to check it out. The Project is currently available in the App Store. As mentioned, each individual issue will set you back $2.99, while the app itself is free. Furthermore, iPad users will need to have iOS 4.2 installed on their device in order to run the application. If you decide to take a closer look at the Project, let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
