MuscleNerd, of the iPhone Dev-Team, recently stated in a Twitter update that ultrasn0w will receive an important update this Sunday. The updated version of the Dev-Team's unlocking tool will allow iPhone 3G/3GS users to remove the carrier lock on their handset, under iOS 4.2.1.
Here's what MuscleNerd said:
Good progress today...everything is on track for updated ultrasn0w by Sunday/Funday at the latest (longer for iPhone4!)Following the release of iOS 4.2.1, the Dev-Team released an updated version of redsn0w. If you own an iPhone 3G/3GS, you can currently benefit from an untethered jailbreak, thanks to the Dev-Team. This Sunday (November 28), iPhone 3G and 3GS users will also be able to successfully remove the carrier lock on their handsets. The unlock will reportedly support baseband 05.14.02 (iOS 4.1) and baseband 05.15.04 (iOS 4.2.1). Furthermore, an unlock will also be released for the iPhone 4. But, as MuscleNerd notes, it will take a little longer to arrive. We'll be reporting as soon as the Dev-Team releases the updated version of ultrasn0w. So, be sure to check back in order to stay updated! And, thanks to Covering Web for spotting this!
