BlueSticks is a digital recreation of the paper and pencil classic, Dots. I have had my hand in such a "poor man's game" but didn't realize there were so many variations. Anyway, BlueSticks houses the most basic play -- which is much closer to what I was taught -- to keep things simple and yet addicting.
BlueSticks is a turn-based strategy game of capturing territories, which are squares in this case. Each player takes turns placing a side to a territory. Just tap on an open section to add a side. You take claim to a territory if you are the player to complete the square in your move. Not only do you gain a point with each territory, but you also get to take another turn. It will continue to be your move until a placement no longer completes a square.
Featuring a one or two-player mode, you can spend a few quick moments or get lost in time as you get caught up in trying to best your friends. Single player has you pitting your wits against the AI -- that seems fairly intelligent in its move choices, which should provide a solid reason to replay.
Two-player mode doesn't just offer that sweet taste of victory over your know-it-all friend but allows you to choose a match or re-match from one of more than 50 level designs. anything from faces to letters, and even crazy shapes -- so they can't complain about some kind of unfair advantage.
