CNN Releases iPad App

December 14, 2010
CNN has just released an iPad application. The free app is currently available to download now in the App Store. The application itself is stunning, and works like a charm on the 9.7" touch screen device. Upon launching the app, users are met with a "news wall" of stories. Touching one opens the article, most of which include videos, and all of which include readers' comments. With your CNN account e-mail and password, it's possible for iPad owners to comment on stories, too. Additionally, the CNN for iPad app allows readers to share articles to Facebook and Twitter. Readers may also share an article via e-mail, or save the article for offline reading. At the bottom of an article is a "more headlines" bar, via which users of the app can navigate to other news items. Holding down a finger on an item in the bar opens a pop-up headline, which is a nice feature. Alternatively, users can navigate back to the main page, and choose a new story to read there. The app's main page features articles that can be filtered by "top stories," "featured," and "video." After a brief advertisement, video plays within the application pretty well. Users of the CNN app can also view the main page in three different styles; as a news wall, as a news list, and as a line of stories which readers can swipe through. The CNN for iPad application is certainly worth downloading. It's currently available for free in the App Store. Personally, I'm a fan of this app, and I think you will be too.
