Riven: The Sequel To Myst - Submitted Today?

December 3, 2010
According to a recently updated Myst Online forum thread, Riven: The Sequel to Myst for iPhone is scheduled to be submitted to the App Store today. Its developers are expecting the app to be available within the next 10 days. Furthermore, the iOS puzzle game is supposedly going to ship with Game Center support. We first told you about Riven way back in August, when developer Cyan Worlds revealed some details about the iOS game, along with some screenshots (above). Cyan Worlds notes:
Introducing Riven: The Sequel to Myst for iOS* - the massive island Age of Riven with all of its meticulous detail, in the palm of your hand. Taking up where Myst left off, Riven set an amazing new standard for design, aesthetics, and immersion in gaming. Remember Atrus’ trap book, the Moiety intervention, the mag-lev ride, the Jungle village, Catherine’s prison, Gehn’s Age, the Wahrk throne? Now the entire Riven adventure can be experienced from wherever you are.
However, we recently learned that Riven: The Sequel to Myst is supposedly scheduled to be submitted to the App Store today. Someone claiming to be a developer working on the game  has stated in the forum:
We have a GoldMaster build that the testers are testing as I type. If there are no show stoppers, we should be able to make the submittal to Apple on Friday! (and then it is about 10 days after that before it reaches the AppStore). [sic]
Furthermore, it has been noted that the iOS puzzle app has "Game Center support," which is great news. We've embedded some screenshots of the upcoming game below for you to check out. It has also been noted in the forum that an iPad version of Riven will soon be available. However, "Riven HD" will not hit the App Store until after Riven's initial release:
Just so you know, the first release of iRiven, will be the iPhone/iPod touch version. . .the HD version for iPad will come some time later. (although the first version will be playable on iPad it is not HD) [sic]
We'll be reporting on Riven: The Sequel to Myst as soon as it's available in the App Store. In the meantime, let us know if you're excited about Riven's release in the comments below. [gallery]
