Analyst: Verizon To Sell Nine Million iPhones In 2011, AT&T To Sell 11 Million

Analyst Gene Munster with Piper Jaffray has recently stated that he expects Verizon to steal 6.5 million iPhone sales from AT&T in 2011. Overall, he sees Verizon selling nine million iPhones in 2011, and AT&T selling 11 million.
As Apple Insider reports, Munster expects the total number of iPhones sold in 2011 to increase by 2.5 million. Therefore, the above figures mean Verizon will have "stolen" 6.5 million handsets from AT&T. As of this moment, AT&T still holds iPhone exclusivity in the U.S. However, many are expecting a Verizon iPhone to be announced tomorrow.
Obviously, a Verizon iPhone is going to take customers' attention away from AT&T. What will be interesting, is to see how much market share AT&T actually loses in 2011. No wonder AT&T PR boss Larry Solomon was a little grouchy when he talked about the Verizon iPhone recently.
