Friend Update Lite: Fully Featured, Just Ad-Supported

January 20, 2011
Have a full-featured Twitter and Facebook client, but still feel like there's something missing? It's time to take a look at Friend Update Lite, the no cost version of the friend-focused Friend Update app by Jason Jensen. Get the experience with no risks and no trial restrictions, like some other "lite" apps. While the typical Twitter and Facebook client and websites provide a look at everything going on that you have an interest in, Friend Update Lite concentrates on keeping you close to just the most important friends. Think of it this way, you probably follow a lot of companies or company employees for a chance at contests, giveaways, and the news surrounding them; with the same likely being said about your Facebook wall. While these friends have significance, they may not hold the significance of just those few people you check constantly. In comes Friend Update Lite, which offers the convenience of combining your friend's Facebook and Twitter feeds into a single list, eliminating any duplicate posts. This may seem like a concept you're already aware of, right? Friend Update doesn't just organize info by friend, it allows you to filter and pick only those really important chums. To begin, choose your friends from Facebook or Twitter by picking the appropriate social-network, tapping on a friend or friends to add a checkmark, then tap the empty box in the bottom-right to confirm and add them to your Friend Update friends list. If you added them using Facebook and know they have a Twitter account, you can link the two by tapping on Edit, tapping on their name, then tapping on the Twitter "t" at the top to pick the related account; this also works vice-versa. Once you've added the names to your list, you'll need to tap the refresh button in the bottom-right of the friends list to update content; content is cached for faster loading. Tap on a friend to view their status updates. While viewing a friend's feed, swipe left or right to move amongst your friends. Friend Update has an integrated web browser and media viewer for photos and videos, so no need to switch apps. Any status update from a Facebook wall can be commented upon and "Liked" simply with a tap-and-hold, revealing both options. Tap the arrow to the right of the post to hide the options. Friend Update Lite is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later. Download your own copy of Friend Update Lite from the App Store now for absolutely free.
