Help KickStart The PadPivot - A Quest To Create The Ultimate Universal Tablet And eBook Reader Stand

January 15, 2011
If you haven't heard already, Bernie Graham and Jim Young have begun a quest to create the ultimate universal touchscreen mobile device stand. In fact, while Bernie and Jim have already gotten the ball rolling, they've started a project that allows pledgers to back the project and have some limited edition offers for when a fan's financial assistance brings some real lift to the project. Called the PadPivot, this portable, versatile, durable, and universal stand is nearing actual production. For the product to be produced to high standards, it costs the big bucks. These two creative minds have set up a KickStarter page outlining the project, providing recognition and thanks to those who've helped, and describing the five different pledges someone can make. Fans can hand over a simple $5 and receive official acknowledgment of their generosity, or go all the way up to $250 or more, which provides a person with: • Two PadPivots with the inventor’s signatures and two PadPivots without, plus 4 microfiber bags to protect them • A copy of the “Making Of PadPivot” hardcover book, including the eBook version • Your name will be listed on the PadPivot Backers Hall of Fame on the website, hardcover book, and eBook in gold • Jim and Bernie will also send a gift basket of their favorite local gourmet treats from Seattle and North Bay • Bernie will even include a signed hockey puck! As of this post, the project has over 500 backers and raised nearly $21,500, which is more than double the original $10,000 goal. That's not to say you shouldn't plunk down your own choice pledge, if interested. You still get the opportunity of owning the product, like nearly any other pre-order. A little about the actual product. The PadPivot has the ability to support an iPad, Kindle, iPhone, iPod touch, Galaxy Tab, Playbook, and nearly any other mobile touchscreen device in a convenient position on your thigh or table. The unit folds for reduced storage needs, has an adhesive "grip plate" that can even attach to most cases, and includes both a tether and carrying case. Mounting works by either attaching your device to the grip plate or by using the groove in the stand as the holder and the grip plate as the support for the back of your device. The PadPivot can hold your device in either portrait or landscape and offers a number of available tilt angles. Cleanup of dust and dirt can be as simple as using running water. The official website has a full image gallery and frequently asked questions section. For those wondering about availability and pricing, the minimum pledge to be accepted as a PadPivot pre-order is $25, and the product is scheduled to ship in April. [gallery link="file"]
