Jailbreak Only: MyWi OnDemand - "Wi-Fi Hotspots Are So 2010"

The popular jailbreak application, MyWi, has recently been updated. Now, fans of the app can enjoy a complete redesign, better functionality, and a new feature Intelliborn calls "MyWi OnDemand."
In order to take advantage of "OnDemand," owners of MyWi must unlock the feature for an additional $4.99. Once the feature is available, users can activate mobile hotspots for their iPad, via their iPhone, "on demand." Here's what Intelliborn has to say about the new feature:
Create an iPad® to iPhone® connection On Demand! Having to turn on and off a hotspot gets old quickly when you're doing it all the time, as when you share your iPhone's 3G connection with a WiFi-Only iPad. Instead, MyWi OnDemand connects when you need it, and disconnects when you don't. When you leave your WiFi connection at home and you're using the iPad, the iPad will connect automatically. When you turn your iPad screen off, or go back where you have WiFi, MyWi OnDemand will disconnect. After a simple pairing, everything works automatically!Unlike MyWi's original mode of connecting to a mobile hotspot, "OnDemand" is easy on your iDevices' battery life, as it connects your mobile devices only when necessary. It's also much easier for the user, too. In order to take advantage of "MyWi OnDemand," you'll first need to download MyWi via the Cydia Store (US$19.99), and then unlock "MyWi OnDemand" for a further US$4.99. The price of this feature is pretty expensive, especially when iOS 4.3 is going to bring users the Personal Hotspot feature (which I can confirm works great with my UK carrier). However, MyWi does offer a three day free trial, so users can try out the app before purchasing. If you can't wait until iOS 4.3, by all means take a look at "MyWi OnDemand." However, my advice would be to hold off on the purchase, and see if Personal Hotspot charges for your carrier aren't going to be too expensive when the feature launches in the coming weeks. Obviously, "MyWi OnDemand" keeps the jailbreak application one step ahead of Personal Hotspot, which doesn't currently offer "on demand" style mobile device tethering. And, if you've already taken "MyWi OnDemand" for a spin, let us know your thoughts in the comments.
