Verizon CEO Sets The Record Straight On Initial iPhone Sales

Verizon Wireless CEO Daniel S. Mead, has set the record straight on the carrier's initial iPhone sales. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mead stated that the carrier had sold an outstanding number of iPhone 4 handsets during the Verizon iPhone's launch period.
Previously, we reported that Verizon's initial iPhone sales hadn't been too impressive. After a record breaking pre-order period, an Apple source noted that the handset's launch hadn't been all that great - citing data taken from five separate Apple Stores. The figures showed that, while the Verizon iPhone 4 was selling well, it was only slightly ahead of the AT&T iPhone 4 (which has been available since June 2010).
However, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal (subscription only), Mead noted that the sales were actually very impressive, and that "Verizon Wireless sold more iPhone 4s during its initial launch than any other product in the carrier's history."
Furthermore, Mead stated that 60 percent of Verizon iPhone sales had been online, which would account for the relatively small Apple Store sales.
Obviously, the leaked data we previously told you about did not take Verizon Stores into consideration, or online sales. With that in mind, I think we can expect Verizon iPhone sales figures - which will not be made available "until the company's next earnings release" - to be impressive.
We'll keep you posted.
