VIPorbit Is A Full-Featured Mobile Relationship Manager For Your iPhone

February 19, 2011

VIPorbit® ($9.99) by VIPorbit Software is a mobile relationship manager that offers business professionals an all-in-one contact management solution.

Created by the co-inventor of ACT!, VIPorbit enhances communication capabilities by linking important contacts to activities and a central calendar.

Dashboard view is the starting point when launching the app. This window contains a summary of scheduled calls, meetings and to-do’s for the day. You'll find a "backup my stuff” tab, but this in-app purchase will run you $49.99 annually.

The contacts tab offers an A to Z listing of your important associates and tabbed Orbits (defined groups).

Tap a contact to reveal three screens of detailed information, such as phone number, e-mail, status, address, social networks and any created custom fields. Swipe your finger left and right to switch between screens. The app offers two very useful features. Record an unlimited number of notes for each contact and quickly reference a history of events for each relationship.

If you’re an Outlook or Google user, synchronize contacts to your iPhone address book by selecting “more,” then “contacts” to import your new VIPorbit contacts. A drop-down menu exists for each contact. This menu provides options to add new activities, vipLinks and a social profile page for Skype, e-mail, SMS, Twitter and Facebook. Twitter communication is limited to direct messages from the app.

The calendar view offers various ways to see upcoming activities in today, list, day, month and customized formats.

The features are plentiful with options to import contacts, export reports, set a passcode to protect your data and further customize.

The biggest omission is the ability to login from your desktop to access your data. I registered for an account with the site, but only found helpful tips and access for submitting requests. While I like the idea of using my mobile device while on the go, I would like the flexibility to access the data from my desktop.

I’d also like to customize the dashboard and have the option to remove the “backup my stuff” tab.

Though not ideal for the average iPhone user, this app will keep mobile professionals in the know while on the go.
