Visit The Red Carpet And Academy Awards Ceremony Live Using The Oscar Backstage Pass App
February 27, 2011
Tonight is the night where we find out who has been dubbed best of the best of last year's motion picture creations, the 83rd annual Academy Awards. Not only can you catch the action staring at your television and via sites like E! Online, but also using your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch and the Oscar Backstage Pass app.
Briefly mentioned in Thursday's AppAdvice EXTRA Apps for the Oscars, the ABC Digital Oscar Backstage Pass app provides access to exclusive camera feeds streamed live before, after, and during the ceremony. Even before the excitement of the main events, the app offers more than 40 videos consisting of this year's nominees, Road to the Oscars, Behind the Dress, and Best Oscar Moments.
The Academy Awards, also known as simply the Oscars, consists of two events: the Red Carpet and the Academy Awards ceremony. As if you didn't already know, the Red Carpet is where celebrities are greeted and briefly interviewed as they arrive for the celebration, whereas the awards ceremony is strictly highlighting the nominees of each category and announcing the winners.
Once the timer expires, Oscar Backstage Pass will change to a new interface, allowing users to more easily follow along in the large amount of hoopla going on, including camera selection and dynamic content. You can even stick around for the after-party festivities as there will be behind-the-scenes clips, recaps of the top moments, and more.
Also mentioned in Thursday's podcast is the free The Oscars app. The Oscars app contains current winners by category, nominee information, and a chance for you to make your own winner predictions and share them with friends through Facebook, Twitter, text, and email.
The Oscars is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.1.3 or later, and is a free download available in the App Store now. Oscar Backstage Pass is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store now for $.99.
The Red Carpet action goes live at 6:30 PM EST and the Academy Awards kicks off at 8 PM EST tonight (February 27th).
