FaceTime For iPad Issues: Front Camera Freezing Up?

March 23, 2011
According to a variety of posts made on the Apple Discussions forum, many iPad 2 owners are having issues with the built in FaceTime app. Namely, upon loading the application, the image from the front facing camera sometimes freezes - making a FaceTime call impossible. Currently, we're not exactly sure how many people are suffering from this problem. Most likely, the issue will be addressed in a future version of the iOS - possibly iOS 4.3.1, which is rumored to be released in the next few weeks. Here's what one user had to say about the issue:
FaceTime was frozen on iPad 2. It had the last video capture as the main screen of Facetime. Could not see receiving video. Resolution: Reset to factoring settings. Apple – possible app glitch. [sic]
And, from another user:
If you see just a still photo it means your FaceTime is stuck and you have to restart your iPad. Has anyone else experienced this? I know someone has this problem, because BOTH my wife and my iPads do this frequently. Is this a bug that can be fixed so it doesn't do it anymore?
Have you experienced any issues such as this with your new iPad 2? If you have, be sure to let us know in the comments.
