Instagallery Brings Your Instagram Photos To The iPad

March 15, 2011
Photos from the popular Instagram app for the iPhone/iPod touch are now available for viewing in a dedicated iPad app. Instagallery lets users review their own Instagram photos or see what others have posted. Until recently, there was no way to actually view Instagram photos outside of the iPhone app. However, this is starting to change thanks to the Instagram API, which was released by the company a few weeks ago. This allows third-party developers to integrate Instagram into their own apps. While FlipBoard was the first to do so, when it integrated the API into its iPad news app, Instagallery is the first specifically geared to showing off photos from the Instagram service. Created by InfinitApps, the app lets iPad users view their own photos or find those posted by friends. Also showcased is a listing of popular photos from Instagram’s social network. Each full size photo is perfectly matted against a neutral background, which can be changed by the user. Jumping to photos by the same person, taken in the same location, or with a tag makes switching between photos easy.

Finally, Instagallery’s slideshow capability makes the iPad a perfect desktop or nightstand display. However, the app only works in portrait mode, so keep that in mind. The Instagallery app priced at $1.99 in the App Store.
