MobileMe Revamp Coming In April, Ahead Of WWDC?

March 19, 2011
Apple is reportedly planning on introducing a revamped version of MobileMe in April. Apparently, the new version - which will launch ahead of WWDC '11 - will be markedly different from the current version. The news comes from a "trusted iLounge source," who works for a major educational institution. According to the source, the school's supplier has noted that the current version of MobileMe is no longer available. Apple is "suggesting new students sign up for the 60 day trial to cover the gap between the final MobileMe shipment and the launch of the new version." As mentioned, the source claims this "new version" of MobileMe will launch in April. Furthermore, once the new version of MobileMe is available, the source notes that Apple will support the old version for only one year. This will cover any users who sign up for the old MobileMe just before the new version is released. The new MobileMe is expected to bring an enhanced cloud based service either for iTunes, customers' personal files, or both. Apple has recently been developing a huge data center in North Carolina, which points towards the company's impending launch of a new cloud based service. We'll keep you posted. [via iLounge]
