Patent Watch: Could GarageBand For iPhone Be A Possibility?

According to a recent patent application, Apple may be in the process of developing an iPhone version of GarageBand.
The music making application is set to hit the iPad on March 11, along with iMovie. However, while the movie editing app iMovie is already available for the iPhone 4 and iPod touch (4G), GarageBand is not.
Interestingly, a patent suggests that this may soon change. As you can see in the above screenshot, the GarageBand patent cites a "touch screen" - figure 492. According to the patent, "the data processing system could include one or more computers (e.g., a desktop computer, a laptop), a smartphone, personal digital assistant, etc."
As Patently Apple notes, the "smartphone" here most likely refers to Apple's iPhone 4, and the "digital personal assistant" probably refers to the iPod touch (4G).
Obviously, we don't know anything for sure. The only thing that is certain, is that Apple will release GarageBand and iMovie (which is already available for the iPhone and iPod touch) in the iPad App Store, on March 11. However, the above patent does suggest that an iPhone version of GarageBand is indeed a possibility.
What do you think? Could you see Apple releasing GarageBand for iPhone and iPod touch when the company announces the iPhone 5? Let us know in the comments.
