World Backup Day Tip: How To Backup Your iOS Device Today

March 31, 2011
Have you heard? Today is World Backup Day! Yes, it's just another lame attempt by the geeks to make their job easier the next time you call them saying you've lost your data and need it badly. Yet, backing up is smart, and might eventually save you a lot of trouble and headaches. Don't run away, backing up your iOS device is not the difficult process you probably think it is. It's just a few clicks away, follow me:

Step 1: Launch iTunes

Yes, just launch iTunes.

Step 2: Plug in Your iOS Device Using the USB cable

This you know how to do. Or, you can ask your kids and neighbors if you don't.

Step 3: Right click on your device in the left pane and hit Backup

It looks something like this:

Step 4: There is no step 4

All you need to know is that if you ever need to restore to the present state, you follow the same steps but hit "restore from backup..." and select today's backup. Also, this will not backup your music and videos, but they should be restored the next time you sync with iTunes. Another good thing to know is that by default, iTunes already does this automatically everytime you sync. Happy Backup Day!
