Photo Rescue For Mac: Easily Recover Lost Photos From iOS Backups

May 20, 2011
Photo Rescue is a handy Mac application that allows iOS fans to recover lost photographs from backup files. This is definitely a useful piece of software. If, like me, you're always taking photographs on your iPhone 4, the Photos app on your handset will be full to the brim with old images from months and months ago. However, one sour restore - or even a lost iPhone 4 handset - could result in you losing all of these precious images. Fortunately, Photo Rescue can help, and you can even try out the app for free. Simply download the software (it's Mac only at the moment) and open it. The application will then display all the photos contained within your unencrypted backups (currently, the app can't read encrypted backups). As you can see in the above image, the app displays your devices along the left side of the screen, and photos to the right. It's a very well developed app - for me, there was no load time whatsoever: Photo Rescue opened in an instant and displayed every photo in my backup files without any wait. If you want to transfer any of the photographs saved within your iOS backups to a computer, you'll have to pay for the app, which is priced at $4.99 (hardly expensive, really).
