Analyst: iOS & Android Gained Video Game Market Share In 2010

According to one mobile analytics service (Flurry), iOS and Android gained video game market share in 2010.
In 2009, iOS and Android game sales accounted for five percent of the market, bringing in revenue of $500 million. Last year (2010) this increased to eight percent, and the revenue produced rose to $800 million.
This means that last year, iOS and Android game sales were higher than PC game sales (which brought in $700 million).
While iOS and Android sales have not overtaken Nintendo DS sales, the DS fell from a 70 percent share of U.S. portable game software in 2009, to 57 percent in 2010 (see above image).
Meanwhile, iOS and Android's share increased from 19 percent to 34 percent.
If these trends continue, you can expect to see iOS and Android overtake Nintendo DS in the coming years. However, this could of course be affected by the recent release of the Nintendo 3DS.
