A "small number" of iPad 2 customers have been encountering connectivity issues with Verizon's 3G network, prompting Apple to investigate.
In a statement released to the press, Apple yesterday confirmed that it is investigating a series of complaints made by iPad 2 customers regarding Verizon's network. Apparently, some users of the Verizon iPad 2 - which have new Gobi chips, as opposed to the AT&T iPad 2 - are having to reboot their device in order to connect to Verizon's 3G network.
This issue has noted by frequenters of the Apple Discussions forum. One disgruntled customer noted:
When I try to connect to the cellular data it just says iPad or Searching in the top of the screen. It did work last night. If I do a hard reset I can get it to work. Switching Airplane mode on and off to reset the modem does NOT work.Following this, Apple released a statement, noting that it is investigating the issue:
We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it.Most likely, this issue will be corrected in a future version of the iOS - possibly iOS 4.3.2, which is rumored to become available in the coming weeks. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, let us know if your iPad 2 is suffering from this annoying issue in the comments below.
