Apple's iOS Holds A 116 Percent Lead Over Android In Europe

April 22, 2011
Apple's iOS currently holds a 116 percent lead over Android in Europe, according to a new study by comScore. The results highlighted that the iOS - running on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices - has a total of 28.9 million users in Europe. Google's Android operating system - running on both smart phones and tablets - has just 13.4 million users. This means Apple's market share is at 12.4 percent, while Google's sits at 5.7 percent - giving the iOS a 116 percent lead over Android. Personally, I don't find this surprising - Apple's iPod touch is an incredibly popular device, and most likely accounts for a sizeable chunk of Europe's iOS user base. Furthermore, at least here in the UK, the iOS undoubtedly has a stronger presence - even on the street, you see more people holding iPhones, than Android smart phones. (Feel free to disagree within me in the comments - these are just my observations.) Are you a European resident? Do you find these results surprising? Let us know in the comments. [via The Loopt]
