Another Death Rally Update Continues Improvements, Plus Some New Challenges

April 21, 2011
A notably impressive run so far, Remedy Entertainment has released the second major update to their explosive arcade racing game Death Rally. Death Rally v1.2 adds a requested control scheme, some additional car customization, four new challenges, plus plenty of overall improvements and bug fixes. The first update brought the Wraith, Laser Sight, Striker rocket launcher, and plenty of general improvements. However, yesterday's release fine tunes the features that already exist. Foremost, drivers now have a choice of a second control scheme option: Arrows. In a replacement to the traditional virtual joystick, the arrow buttons provide a tap experience more so than a joystick's drag motion. Personally, I found the new controls a bit difficult for my style of play. No matter which control scheme you prefer, Remedy has brought left-handed driver support to make things a bit more on par for "goofy foot" individuals. A set of new challenges should keep things a bit 'fresh' for those of us who've put in enough hours to complete everything more than one time over. In addition to the former challenges like Head-to-Head, Missiles, Upstream, Marathon, etc, players now have a chance to take part in further weapon-specific races: Shotguns, Gatlings, Snipers, and Strikers. As a final kind gesture on the topic of additions; there are new paint jobs available for Vagabond, Dervish and Deliverator. While it is strictly aesthetic with no one to show them off to, I still find it to be a worthy inclusion to keep players interested. Further improvements and fixes contained in Death Rally v1.2 include: • New icons for reversed, mixed and rotated races • Beginner bosses are now easier • Velodrama and Refinery tweaked • Vagabond physics changes • Improved control tutorial • Fixed a random crash when starting two-car challenges • Fixed options menu getting stuck • Fixed a bug in "Fifty kills" achievement • Fixed a dead opponent winning a race • Fixed a bug with a reverse race Death Rally is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, third generation iPod touch and newer running iOS 3.2 or later.
