Gameloft To Release The Official "Fast Five" Mobile Game Alongside The Theatrical Release
April 5, 2011
Fast Five, the latest episode of the action-packed The Fast and the Furious franchise, will be hitting theaters later this month. In a well-timed release, Gameloft has teamed up with Universal Pictures to launch the official mobile game of the movie, Fast Five The Movie: Official Game, for iOS nearly simultaneously.
"We are very pleased to bring ‘Fast Five’s’ eye-popping universe of high-powered car chases to all mobile platforms for which we develop games," said Gonzague de Vallois, Senior Vice President Publishing of Gameloft. "The official game will captivate even the most hardcore fans of the franchise while recreating the film’s atmosphere down to the most minute detail."Despite only a little more than three weeks to go, Gameloft has decided to keep the feature list and requirements behind closed doors. We are told that the game will follow the movie storyline very closely, where the player will take the role of ex-cop Brian O’Conner who must drive relentlessly through the streets and alleys of Rio de Janeiro, Hong Kong, and the Dominican Republic with a team of expert drivers to make one final run for freedom. Drivers will need to avoid toppling structures, other traffic, and law enforcement lead by an extremely determined federal agent.
"We are familiar with the high quality of Gameloft’s digital video game productions and are thrilled to bring an immersive, cinematic experience to mobile platforms,"said Calvin Lim, Director of Mobile, Universal Partnerships & Licensing. “We are eager to see our film, ‘Fast Five,’ come to life on mobile devices, smartphones and tablets all over the world.”Fast Five brings back the driving action of Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker) and Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) as they now reunite with Jordana Brewster, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Matt Schulze, Tego Calderon and Don Omar to do a 'job' that will net them $100 million and their key to final freedom. The group is pursued by federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) as they create extraordinary havoc speeding down streets in modified muscle, exotic, and street cars. Fast Five will be in theaters April 29th. Fast Five The Movie: Official Game will be available on April 28th for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Android devices.
