Is This What Skype By Microsoft Looks Like?

May 27, 2011
A limited number of Skype users are still unable to use the service for a second day, according to a message on the Skype Blog. The problem appears to affect Skype for Windows users only. Strangely, it comes just weeks after Microsoft agreed to purchase Skype. According to a message posted by Skype’s Jennifer Caukin:
Yesterday we issued a Skype for Windows update to fix a corruption that occured in a small percentage of users' systems, resulting in some of our community not being able to sign in to Skype. You need to ensure that no Skype processes are left running before installing this update, so please be sure to quit your existing Skype application before performing the download. If you're using Skype for Windows, and have experienced this problem logging in, please update Skype to the latest version now. We plan to release an update to Skype for Mac today to address the same issue, and we'll update you when that becomes available.
The fact that this issue happened AFTER the company issued an update for its Windows users is quite ominous. Worst, will its Mac update affect those customers as well? If any of our readers have experienced Skype login problems please let us know by using the comments below. Also, indicate what OS you are using. Earlier this month Microsoft agreed to purchase Skype for $8.5 billion. The ongoing outage should have no affect on Skype iDevice users.
