Icebreaker Hockey - An "Intense Action Arcade Hockey Game," Coming This June

May 27, 2011
NaturalMotion Games has recently announced Icebreaker Hockey - an "intense action arcade hockey game" that is set to hit the App Store this June 2, and will be available for $2.99. According to a press release that recently hit the Web, Icebreaker Hockey uses "morpheme" - a "graphically authorable animation engine" that provides the application with stunning graphics. Features of the app include Game Center support (leaderboards and achievements), two different gameplay modes and three levels of difficulty. As outlined in the press release:
“Icebreaker is all about creating the feeling of being on the ice,” said Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion. “We’ve been delighted to work with the talented team at Digital Legends to create a game that’s intense, pick-up-and-play and impossible to put down.”
“We have been thrilled to work with NaturalMotion on combining state-of-the-art technology for animations and graphics to recreate on the iPhone an amazing ice skating sensation and on focusing on attention to detail to deliver the best gaming experience” added Xavier Carrillo-Costa, CEO, Digital Legends Entertainment.
Apparently, Icebreaker Hockey uses a mixture of on-screen buttons and accelerometer controls in order to achieve this ice-like experience. Sounds good, right? As mentioned, the developer states that Icebreaker Hockey will skate into the App Store June 2, where it will be available to download for $2.99. We'll let you know once it's available. In the meantime, check out the below screenshots of the app and let us know your thoughts in the comments. [gallery columns="2"]
