Quirky App Of The Day: Rant & Rave

There are some people who like to put their opinions and their need for advice out into social networking space for the responses of others. They're more social creatures than I am. However, I'm sure that many of us know people on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter that feel it's their duty to inform their known world about every little detail about their life. Every. Little. Detail. Like whether they're going to take a shower, and when they've returned.
I put these people who use Rant & Rave heads and shoulders above those people on Facebook and Twitter. They use a social network specifically designed to do as it says it does: Rant and Rave. Not only that, but it's done anonymously. Users sign-in with a username that is not tracked. If even that seems too intrusive, you can use your GPS location. Personally, I'd rather not let other people know exactly where I am. You can create a topic and comment on others.
Now, here's why I think that this app is above the boring stuff that gets posted on Facebook. Rant and Rave offers the option to filter by most popular, most comments, and most viewed. This helps keep out the one-line topics that might be announcing something like favorite songs or that they love their new car. Things you might not truly care about. Topics you find that you want to follow and keep coming back to you can mark as your favorite. It's easier to navigate and more easily customized.
Now, I know that on Facebook and Twitter you have friends that you want to communicate with. I understand that. I also understand that there are people who want to just rant about their bad day and not be judged by their friends, boss, and the mother they were forced to "friend" through guilt and family duty. This app gives people that freedom. I, for one, appreciate them for using Rant & Rave to spread their stress instead of airing it out on Facebook. If they are, in fact, remaining anonymous and staying off Facebook.
Rant & Rave is available at the iTunes store for the price of $0.99
