Textfree for iPad is a recently released iOS app that allows users to send free SMS messages to both U.S. and international numbers. The application is currently available to download for free in the App Store. Textfree for iPad essentially allows users to send free SMS messages to mobile numbers both within and outside of the U.S. (Supported countries include: Australia, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, France, Germany, Guam, Guatemala, India, Netherlands, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, United States, Venezuela.) Upon first hearing about this app, I was a little skeptical - but, after giving Textfree for iPad a test run, I have to admit: The service appears to work perfectly. An SMS message sent from my iPad 2 (Wi-Fi only) was received by my iPhone 4 within seconds. As outlined in the app's release notes:
