More AT&T News: "Shared Data Plan" In The Works, No Time Frame Announced

During his interview at All Things Digital's D9 event, AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega shared a snippet of information that might get customers excited. Essentially, the carrier is currently in the process of developing "shared data plans," which would allow AT&T customers to share data between a variety of different devices. However, Ralph de la Vega didn't give any indication as to when this handy offering might become available.

AT&T CEO Ralph de la Vega just confirmed at the D9 conference today that the carrier is "working on" a shared data plan, but he's not committing to a time frame just yet. He also left no doubts about those plans when pressed further on the question, clearly opening the door to a situation where you could have an iPad, an Atrix 4G, an AT&T netbook and just about anything else all sharing a unified pool of minutes and data.Along with availability, the CEO didn't hint at how much such an offering would cost, either. Engadget speculates that this kind of feature is a long way from becoming available, and we agree with the website. Regardless, it's good to know this is something AT&T is "working on," as it's undoubtedly a feature many would appreciate - especially if you have an iPhone and an iPad with the carrier.
