According to a company executive, United Arab Emirates-based carrier Etisalat could get the "iPhone 5" later this year.
While the carrier's CCO Ali Al Ahmad notes that the company is in talks with Apple regarding a fifth generation iPhone, he also suggests that the "iPhone 5" will be compatible with Etisalat's upcoming LTE network.
As originally reported by Gulf News, Ahmad said:
"Yes, we are in talks with most smartphone manufacturers including Apple on the rollout of the 4G handset, iPhone 5 later this year. As the first telecom organisation to roll out the 4G network, LTE, in the Middle East, we have already started talking to them for the handsets and chipsets in them."Despite Ahmad's comments, many are expecting an LTE-enabled iPhone handset to be available next year, as opposed to later this year. Additionally, we're hoping Apple unveils the fifth generation handset in September, ahead of releasing the final version of iOS 5 to the public. However, as of this moment, nothing has been confirmed by the Cupertino, CA company. We'll keep you posted. [via Apple Insider]
