Firemint Announces Real Racing 2 HD Will Utilize The Upcoming iOS 5 Expanded AirPlay Capabilities
June 9, 2011
The team over at Firemint is certainly working hard to keep the spotlight on their iOS gaming efforts. Announced at this year's WWDC, the company will be taking their dual-screen, full HD capability available in Real Racing 2 HD to the wireless video realm.
One of the features of iOS 5 is full video mirroring through AirPlay when using an iPad 2. Basically, this means that users who have an Apple TV will be able to forget about that Apple Digital AV Adapter and HDMI cord they invested in. However, there's no need to get bummed out because those cables will still be useful for original iPads, iPhone 4s, and 4G iPod touches.
The upcoming AirPlay functionality of Real Racing 2 HD will provide the same experience as the current wired method.
• Full-screen, gorgeous 1080p (1920 x 1080) visuals
- No black borders
- No scaling - full HD
• Silky smooth 30 frames per second
• Dual-screen racing - real time telemetry on your iPad 2
Enhanced video output isn't the only Real Racing 2 HD perk for iPad 2 users; full HD video out compliments full-screen anti-aliasing, building window reflections, high-detail objects and surfaces, and fully modeled vehicle interiors, plus the added control precision of the gyroscope.
This truly is a big step in iOS gaming because other games can only be up-converted to 1080p when run on an iPad 2, but Firemint is going all out to make it a native-1080p resolution at a more than reasonable 30 frames per second. And with iOS 5, Firemint is able to make that experience even simpler and more enjoyable by eliminating the cords for less clutter and allowing users to sit nearly anywhere they please for even better comfort.
Real Racing 2 HD is compatible with iPad and iPad 2 running iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $9.99.
