A tethered jailbreak solution for the first beta version of iOS 5 could be released today, according to @MuscleNerd (a prominent member of the iPhone Dev-Team).
While Apple might have put a temporary end to the iPhone Dev-Team's untethered jailbreak exploit, less than a day following iOS 5's initial developer release, @MuscleNerd confirmed that the bootrom limera1n exploit is compatible with iOS 5. (Because this is a hardware exploit, it will provide a tethered solution - at least - for every current iOS device except the iPad 2.)
Now, in a tweet that hit the Web moments ago, @MuscleNerd has hinted that the iPhone Dev-Team may release this tethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5 today, in honor of the last day of WWDC. Here's what the tweet read:
Last day of WWDC…seems as good time as any to release tethered iOS5 jailbreak (for Mac owners with registered UDIDs)We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, let us know if you're planning on jailbreaking iOS 5 in the comments. [via Cult of Mac]
