"Touchgrind BMX" Has Fly Tricks, Might Be Too Tricky To Fly On iPad
June 11, 2011
Since its recent release, Touchgrind BMX has been making waves on the iPhone circuit as Illusion Labs' fantastic series followup to the original, award-winning Touchgrind skateboarding title.
If you haven't read Tyler's short initial take on the game, you can check it out here. The short and skinny of it's that the trick-tossing, tail-whipping bike sim is an excellent package and amazing value on iPhone.
Naturally, then, many players are curious as to when Touchgrind BMX will be HD'd to iPad. To that end, one of our AppAdvice readers reached out to the developers asking when we can expect the game to land on the big screen. Their response isn't too encouraging:
Making it for iPad will take some time because we want it to be really perfect for the bigger screen. Maybe in a month or two. Maybe never. We haven't decided yet. However, maybe the situation isn't quite so tenuous, after all. Illusion Labs is probably just preserving future options with such an open-ended response, and it seems unlikely the company won't release an iPad version. Still, Touchgrind HD has only 84 ratings since November of last year, so it's not entirely out of the question that the platform or necessary pricing model just isn't there on Apple's bigger device. The best chance for guaranteeing the release of "Touchgrind BMX HD," then, is to purchase the iPhone version and leave positive feedback. The app's only five dollars on iTunes, so I'm going to buy it right now. Join me, won't you?
