Jailbreak Only: PasswordPilot, The App That Saves Your iTunes Password, Is Now Available

July 28, 2011
If you're forever entering and re-entering an iTunes password in the App Store iOS application, consider downloading PasswordPilot. This recently released jailbreak application saves a user's iTunes password, encrypts it, and then automatically enters the password when a digital purchase is made in the App Store. A couple of days ago, we told you about this upcoming jailbreak application (which is developed by Filippo Biga), and a lot of our readers sounded quite enthusiastic for the release of the package. The new application integrates within the Settings app, and doesn't add a new application icon to the Home screen. Once you've installed the package (just search for "PasswordPilot" in Cydia), you'll need to add in your iTunes password. This can be done in the Settings app, as you can see in the above screenshot. After your iTunes password has been saved by PasswordPilot, the next time you head over to the App Store and make a purchase, the jailbreak app will enter your password automatically. Meaning all you have to do is confirm the purchase. Remember, while the application does encrypt users' passwords, PasswordPilot does mean anybody with access to your iPhone's SpringBoard could effectively run up a big, unauthorized bill in the App Store. However, if you use a password lock with your handset, you should be okay. Take a look at PasswordPilot in Cydia now, and let us know your thoughts in the comments. [via Redmond Pie]
