Moviefone For iPad Has Your Favorites Covered, Plus Some Overall Improvements

Ever since it finally moved to the iPad, Moviefone has truly become one of the top movie discovery and information apps in the App Store. Just a few days ago, Moviefone for iPad received its first major update, providing some improvement tweaks, plus new two main new features that I will do a quick overview for: points of interest search and a favorites section. POI search is most useful for those who don't go out to see movies very often, and especially if the theater isn't right down street. After selecting a theater, tap on the restaurant button (a traditional fork and knife icon) next to the date selection menu to search for restaurants / diners, coffee shops, bars / pubs, and shopping centers nearest to that specific theater. The list includes name, rating, address, and distance. Tap on an entry for further details. That way, you can grab a meal or a cold beverage and do a little discussion before heading back home. The favorites section is a nice touch, even if it isn't a feature everyone will use. Mark your most admired and enjoyed actors / actresses, news, films, trailers, and video segments by tapping on the familiar heart icon alongside the sharing options for quick and easy access later on. Use it as a means of archiving or even as another search tool. For example, you remember seeing an ad for an upcoming movie but can't remember the name, however, you do recall that one of your favorite actresses was involved. Further enhancements of Moviefone for iPad v1.1 include: • Redesigned videos tab • More "Coming Soon" movies • Adjust font sizes when reading news articles • More sorting and filtering options for movies and videos • Lots of new sharing options • Lots of bug fixes and performance tweaks As it looks thus far, the iPhone and iPod touch version has been chosen to be neglected; the app hasn't been updated since late last year. It most certainly still has plenty of use, although, the feature gap is getting larger. Perhaps, it will have a major update later on, but it definitely looks as if the future of Moviefone is all about the iPad. Moviefone for iPad is compatible with iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download.
