That's right, PopCap Games recently released that all-important update for Plants vs. Zombies. Now, iPhone 4 and fourth generation iPod touch owners can enjoy playing the application in high definition, on their Retina display equipped iOS devices. Furthermore, the app has received a series of performance improvements, making it more stable than ever before.
Despite the fact that Apple's Retina display was announced over a year ago, PopCap only just issued an update for Plants vs. Zombies. To be honest, as a result of this I hadn't played the zombie-squishing app for a long time, simply because it looked horrible and pixelated on my iPhone 4. However, this has now been corrected. It's great news that Plants vs. Zombies supports the Retina display, simply because it makes the application truly brilliant (in my opinion, at least).
As outlined in the app's release notes, changes made in the latest version of Plants vs. Zombies (1.7) include:
Greetings Zombie Apocalypse Homestead Defenders. Breaking news has just reached us from Crazy Dave’s Workshop! It seems that we have now accumulated enough brains and zombie body parts to bring you Retina support for Plants vs Zombies! Crazy Dave had been inundated with requests for support for this device and he’s been working like CRAAAZZYYY to bring it to you. So here it is! We hope you enjoy. We also noticed that some speed optimizations were in order and we are always squashing a few bugs along the way. We hope you enjoy the crisp new graphics and improved performance!Currently, the application is available to download in the App Store for $2.99. Take a look at the recently updated Plants vs. Zombies on your fourth generation iPhone or iPod touch now, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
