Time Warner Cable has just updated its iPad app, adding several new features. However, if you recently jailbroke your tablet via JailbreakMe, we have some bad news: TWCable TV isn't going to work.
That's right, as originally reported by Tim Stevens of Engadget, the latest version of TWCable TV (2.0.0) packs a nasty surprise for jailbreakers. Once installed, when you launch the app on your "liberated" iPad, the following message is displayed:
TWCable TV is not supported on "jailbroken" devices. Please restore your iPad to factory defaults, then reinstall TWCable TV.Meaning that jailbroken iPad owners should stay away from this update if they want to keep on using the application. As outlined in the app's release notes, new features added in the latest version of TWCable TV include:
Are you a jailbroken TWCable TV user - and if you are, will you update to the latest version of the app and remove your jailbreak? Or would you consider using Netflix or Hulu instead? Personally, if I was an avid jailbreak fan, one application wouldn't stop me restoring and walking the straight-and-narrow, though five, ten or maybe twenty would. Let's hope this doesn't catch on.
