Jailbreak Only: Undelete SMS - Recover Deleted Messages, If You're Lucky

A new jailbreak application promises to attempt to recover users' deleted SMS messages, by scanning through an iPhone's SMS database and Spotlight index. The application is called "Undelete SMS," and it's currently available to download in Cydia for around seven dollars.
The only problem with the application is that it isn't guaranteed to work all of the time. According to the app's developer:
Undelete SMS analyzes remnant deleted data that has not yet been overwritten by new data. While Undelete SMS can often produce useful results from an actively used phone (or backup from an actively used phone), it will not work on a freshly restored device. As mentioned, application searches through users' SMS database and Spotlight index. It then displays deleted messages in plain text (meaning they can be copied to another iOS app). Obviously, the only major downside to the application is its price. Despite the fact that Undelete SMS doesn't promise to recover a deleted message each and every time you use it, the application is still on the expensive side at seven dollars. If you've got the spare cash, take Undelete SMS for a spin. And if you do, be sure to post your thoughts in the comments. [via iDownloadBlog]
