You may recall our recent post about a new Battlefield game coming to the App Store. Not much has been unveiled until now, but Pocket Gamer sat down with the game at the recent Gamecom '11 event.
The game does not appear to be like a traditional Battlefield title as seen on PCs or consoles, nor will it offer a similar single player experience as the upcoming PC and console version of Battlefield 3. Instead it will be more similar to "Call of Duty: Zombies."
"So out goes linear corridor combat and in comes wave-based Horde/Spec Ops gameplay that sees you facing off against an increasingly nasty (and more numerous) bunch of enemy soldiers," according to Pocket Gamer.
The settings, weapons, and enemy combatants will be based on the Battlefield games, thus making the upcoming title stand out from Call of Duty: Zombies, however the gameplay will be also based on wave attacks. Players will be facing waves of enemy combatants with stronger attacks each time.
The game will also have a classical multiplayer mode, according to the report. How this will play out remains to be seen, but expect deathmatch since co-op play will be missing.
"Alongside this new mode is what EA describes as 'Classic' multiplayer, which wasn't available at Gamescom. Co-operative play, alas, will be missing altogether," Pocket Gamer reports.
