Stop The Balls Before You Run Out Of Track In Billiard Chain

August 24, 2011

Billiard Chain (Free) by TianhuoTongRen is a new puzzle game which combines matching three or more of a type with some hand eye coordination.

You are presented with a billiard table that bears a double lined track starting at one of the table’s holes and ending at another. A chain of differently colored billiard balls comes out of the starting hole and travels along the track.

The aim is to remove all the balls from the table before the chain reaches the end.

You are given a fixed pool cue with a colored ball attached to its end. Swipe your finger from the cue to where you want the ball to go and it will fly across the table. If it hits the chain, it will immediately become part of that chain. If it joins two or more adjacent balls of the same color, those balls will be removed. If the ball misses the chain, it will just keep bouncing around until it does make contact.

Some of the balls have flashing symbols on them. Removing them will affect the other balls in some way such as slowing them down or destroying a few extra.

If you aren’t careful, you could end up making the chain grow too long, thereby not giving yourself enough time to clear the board.

The idea this app brings to the table has a lot of potential to be a great deal of fun. It would have been fantastic to see upwards of 50 levels all with varying degrees of difficulty and different obstacles to make the levels more challenging.

However, we are given only three levels. Sure, the third level is slightly more challenging than the first two but it’s not enough. Such little effort has been put into offering a decent amount of playability that it’s hardly worth bothering with.
