Slash And Charge Your Way Through Ninjas And Their Dogs In Mask Of Ninja
Mask Of Ninja Free (Free) by BLUE GNC is an arcade game where you’re a kid who has to inexplicably fight some zombie-looking ninjas and their dogs.
You’re given several kinds of attacks and three modes of play. The ability worthy of note is that you’re able to become a powerful ninja yourself.
The first mode is a set arena where you have limited space to move back and forth, but are able to move between two invisible lines to fight in either the foreground or background. Move between the two with the red “shift” button. There are two daggers on the bottom left that allow you to move left and right and double-tapping one of them will make you charge in that direction. Kill everything thrown at you to win.
The second mode is a time trial where you must run nonstop through a level with lots of sudden drops you can fall down. Run out of time or lose all your lives and you’re done for. You can’t slow or stop yourself, but you can jump (blue button) and attack (red button). Along the way you’ll be able to collect items such as gold clocks for extra time and red arrows for extra speed.
Also to be collected are blue tear-drop shaped “soul” points, which along with gold, allow for upgrades and purchases in the shop. You can upgrade your stats and attacks or buy new abilities and masks (more on that in a moment).
The third mode is called “rooftop” mode and is a combination of the first two. There is no foreground/background movement and the shift button becomes the jump button. There is no auto-run and no time trial so you can move yourself back and forth at your leisure. You have to run the course of the level, killing bad ninjas and jumping over holes in the ground while collecting the aforementioned items.
On the top left is the mask button; available only during the first and third modes. As you fight, you fill up the circular resource bar around the mask. When it’s full enough, you can tap the button to be transformed into a powerful masked ninja who does extra damage, killing enemies a lot more quickly.
If you find that the time trial mode is what you enjoy most, the developers have also made a version of this game where only that mode exists; Mask Of Ninja: Run.
