The IMDb Looks To Better Integrate Account-Only Features Into Their iOS App
August 24, 2011
The Internet Movie Database app for iOS received a few user interface tweaks a couple of days ago, and the focus is on account-related activities.
These minor UI element changes and additions will seem much more significant for those who use the app beyond a reference tool for the questions of, "what's the name of that movie?" and "what's his name?" For example, the history button has become a lists button, which also includes "your history." In fact, most of the changes are for those who enjoy using lists, where you can now manage them on the app and the website.
• Ability to sort Watchlist by user order, A-to-Z or average rating
• Create custom lists to save favorite movie and TV titles
• Organize lists in the new Your Lists page offering one click access to Ratings, Watchlist, History and custom lists
• See and manage lists created on the imdb.com website (such as My Movies lists)
• All lists now use larger images movie posters and people
• See top lists created by other users for movie and TV title pages (labeled as Related Lists)
General improvements include appearance and slight location difference for certain buttons, quadrupling the bestsellers list, using larger movie poster and celebrity headshot images, and offering a sharing via Twitter feature through the official iOS Twitter app.
And the final enhancements consist of VoiceOver support, better access to IMDb Pro features, additional user preference options available in the settings area, plus numerous optimizations and bug fixes
IMDb is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later, and available in the App Store as a free download.
