What The iPhone 5 Delay Means [Updated]

August 15, 2011
Apple is apparently ready to launch the iPhone 5, but not until October. Previous reporting indicated that the next-generation handset would be released in September, but that was not meant to be. Why the delay? Keep in mind, Apple never officially announced an iPhone 5. Therefore, talk of a “delay” is purely media-driven. Many figured (incorrectly) the next handset would be released after U.S. Labor Day (September 5) along with iOS 5. However, again, Apple never officially announced when iOS 5 would be announced. Rather, they stated it would be coming this fall along with iCloud. We still anticipate Apple will announce the iPhone 5 sometime next month, with the U.S. rollout scheduled for early October. In fact, this is what The Wall Street Journal suggests, and they are very good at making Apple predictions, in our opinion. When the iPhone 5 does arrive, it will probably use the faster A5 processor and a higher resolution rear camera. As for iOS 5, we still expect a September release. After all, Apple has recently released iOS 5 beta 5 to developers. Most likely, the final version is coming very soon. So folks, continue enjoying your summer. You next iPhone is coming, just not right after Labor Day.
