WorldView+ Now Offers A BIgger Window To The Globe With Native iPad Support
August 28, 2011
A significant update has arrived for Andreas Linde's webcams.travel iOS app, WorldView+. Making the debut in v3.0 is native iPad support, enhanced search, Facebook Connect, plus general improvements and fixes.
Even though the app was quite suitable in iPad Compatibility Mode, the new iPad-optimized user interface of WorldView+ v3.0 is very much worth an applause. Providing true full screen support and properly scaled UI elements makes the experience on the iPad feel cleaner and crisper.
Also arriving with the v3.0 delivery is an enhanced search system. Previously, and still an option, a user could find webcams by searching location keywords, such as a city name or popular venue, then narrowing the results using region filters. The new approach is to taper the results by focusing in on locations displayed via a map. As you zoom in on an area with the standard expand gesture, more and more webcams will appear.
Further changes in WorldView+ v3.0 include:
• Added Facebook sharing
• Improved Twitter sharing
• Lots of minor UI changes
• Lots of minor bug fixes
• Now requires iOS 4.0 or later
WorldView+ is one of my most used apps, accessed at least once per day. Offering searching, bookmarking, and frame capturing of thousands of webcam feeds from around the globe, WorldView+ provides a way to view live weather conditions, traffic status, and even give a window to paradises you dream of being apart of -- which is my favorite ability.
If you want to try out the concept for free, download WorldView from the App Store now at no cost. Lacking the bonus features contained in the premium version, including the v3.0 changes, WorldView can most certainly help you decide if the app is something you'll find useful and enjoyable.
WorldView+ is a universal app compatible with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running iOS 4.0 or later, and available in the App Store for $1.99.
