Apple Releases New iTunes And iWork Betas Ahead Of iOS 5, iCloud Release
September 11, 2011
Apple has released its eighth iTunes 10.5 beta for developers and also iWork for iOS beta 3. Both updates, which are available now, offer additional bug fixes and performance updates.
The iTunes beta 8 (Mac only) includes a new Backup section under the summary page for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. Now, users can decide whether to backup to iCloud or onto their computer.
Meanwhile, iWork for iOS beta 3 is Apple’s latest pre-release update to its first iCloud app. When released to the public, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote for iOS files will be assessable by users at iCloud.com using any web browser.
Both these releases suggest Apple is getting closer to releasing public versions of iOS 5 and iCloud. We don't remember a time when Apple released so many betas prior to a software release. In addition to the eighth iTunes 10.5 beta, Apple recently revealed a seventh iOS 5 beta. Hopefully, soon - very soon - Apple will finalized these new products and announce Gold versions. Typically, these are the last versions before a public release.
As usual, we'll keep you updated.
