Earn Your Way To Grand Axe Master Within Jenga's New Online Ranking System
September 22, 2011
If you haven't yet noticed or tend to simply tap the "update all" button when you have iOS app updates available, NaturalMotion released Jenga and Jenga HD v1.5 to the App Store yesterday. The update adds even more to the online experience, including chat, plus contains minor user interface and game transition tweaks.
To recap, v1.4 helped avid online gamers to express their moods and make taunts using emoticon sharing between turns, keep track of how good or bad online play is going with win and loss statistics, and makes a win that much sweeter with the chance to watch the final humiliating move made by their opponent. Basically, a few fun things to improve the beyond the tabletop experience.
Jenga and Jenga HD v1.5 take things to the next level. In fact, one of the additions is an experience points ranking system. Work your way from a lowly Sawdust Sweeper to an honorable Grand Axe Master. Every move you make in a game awards a single XP point. Both winning and losing do earn points, just a lot more for winning, of course. The taller your tower is before it topples, the greater amount of XP points earned.
The emoticon system has worked pretty well thus far, however, players still wanted more. And more is what they got in the form of a text chat system. Available after completing a turn, you can send either one of the previously provided emoticons or pass along a short text message. As is typically recommended, players should be good sports and keep the vulgar, violent, and otherwise inappropriate dialogue to themselves.
Jenga is designed for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 3.2 or later, and available in the App Store for $.99. Jenga HD is compatible with iPad running iOS 3.2, and available in the App Store for $.99.
