Hulu Plus App Now Includes Support For HDMI Video Out

September 1, 2011
The universal Hulu Plus app was updated today and includes a few goodies for everyone. Most importantly, the video streaming service now offers iPad 2 owners support for HDMI video out, which the service dropped earlier this year. Version 2.4 of the free app also includes:
  • Added ability to save an entire season to Queue
  • A subset of content includes closed captioning support
  • "Subscriptions" are now "Favorites"
  • Fixed miscellaneous bugs
Launched in July 2010, Hulu Plus offers streaming Hulu video content using Wi-Fi and 3G connections using an iPhone/iPod touch or iPad. The service, which costs $7.99 per month, offers videos from numerous sources including Fox, NBC Universal, The Walt Disney Company, and more. In April, Hulu blocked support for HDMI mirroring of their Hulu Plus app for the iPad. Thankfully, this has now returned. Hulu Plus users with an iPad 2 can use Apple's HDMI adapter to watch Hulu Plus content on a television. Note: this only works for standard definition. The free Hulu Plus app is available in the App Store.
