KULA BLOX ($0.99) by TransGaming, Inc. is an arcade game where a plane carrying a menagerie of wild animals runs into trouble and ends up dumping its live cargo all over the place. You play the role of a predator trying to eat as much as possible.
Apparently all the animals were stuffed into crates thus giving them their square appearance.
At the start of each level you are given the option to choose which predator you want to play, each having its own special ability. You are also shown your goals for that level such as eating 30 frogs and 20 pandas. Only one goal needs to be accomplished to unlock the next level.
Initially, you can only choose the leopard which allows you to shoot down at great speed to catch your prey. A little later on you can also choose the eagle whose special ability is to allow you flutter upwards for a short while.
As you rush downward and near your prey, they try to run from you in wild-eyed terror so be sure to take account of this when aiming for them. However, as scary as you might be, be aware that you are not the only predator in the skies. If another predator touches you, you lose one of your three lives for that level.
Upon landing at the bottom you crash into a pile of gold-filled crates. The gold you collect allows you to upgrade items you pick up when unlocking levels. Things like a shell that protects you from fellow predators for a short while or a parachute to slow your decent and pick up your prey as they fly by you.
Kula Blox is a fun distraction of a game whose 36 levels will help to while away those moments in life when you have a few minutes to kill. At only $0.99 it’s worth a try.
