Jenga Meets Match-3 In This Flashy Game From Adult Swim, Monsters Ate My Condo

Monsters Ate My Condo ($0.99) by [adult swim] is a different, more creative, take on match-3. It's like playing Jenga, but with giant monsters who you must appease while carefully pulling your tiles from a tower.

I almost had a seizure upon viewing the main screen. Bright, flashy graphics, anime voices, and a Japanese pop soundtrack complete this game's aesthetics. I would expect nothing less from Adult Swim.

There are four different monsters attacking the city — well, eating buildings at least. And trust me, you want to keep these guys happy. How can you go wrong with a unicorn, a thing with a boat as a head, a puppy, and a cyclops? Seriously. You should already be sold.

The two game modes are Endless Mode and Time Attack. Endless Mode lasts until your tower of condos collapses, whereas, Time Attack only lasts for two minutes. Pick your mode and the game will start. A painted geisha finger will give you instructions, the first time around, on what to do and how to score. This finger is very demanding.

Just swipe the condos left or right, trying your best to match the colors up with the monsters. Although you can feed the monsters any color condo you want, you'll want to be careful. Eventually, once you've fed them too many wrong colors in a row, they get very angry and will start stomping around. This could cause your tower to come crashing down and you don't want that. To remedy this, just feed them their own color and you're back on the road to success.

There isn't necessarily just one way to play as you have many options to score points. You receive points from feeding the monsters and matching colors in the middle column of condos (three or more).

There are special buildings that will make up your tower, as well. From cement blocks that try to inhibit matching to gold and bronze pieces that activate the monster's powers — they all help you get even more points from condo eating and matching. Also, getting achievements through Game Center or OpenFeint automatically adds one multiplier to help increase your score.

Monsters Ate My Condo is available as a universal app in the App Store for only $0.99. If you enjoy puzzle games, or are an Adult Swim game fan at all, you'll thoroughly enjoy this one.
